Thereafter, it is predicted to intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm (SCS) by May 11, then further into Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS) over the Southeast and the adjoining Central Bay of Bengal by May 12.
This depression is expected to move northwestwards for some time and then north-northwestwards and gradually develop into a Cyclonic Storm (CS) by the evening of May 10 (today). The depression over the Southeast Bay of Bengal has moved west-northwestwards with a speed of 5 kmph during the past 6 hours and concentrated into a deep depression.
Heatwave conditions are forecast over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Gangetic West Bengal, and Bihar.ģ-day rainfall forecast from Wednesday to Saturday morning. Maximum temperatures above 40☌ may prevail at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Saurashtra, Kutch, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Telangana. Maximum temperatures above 45☌ are likely in isolated places over West Rajasthan. Isolated rainfall with a chance of lightning is possible over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and North Interior Karnataka. Scattered showers and thunderstorms may occur over Coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, and Lakshadweep. Fairly widespread rains and thunderstorms are likely over Kerala and Mahe. Widespread rains and thunderstorms accompanied by isolated very heavy falls and Gusty winds (90 kmph) may pelt Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
